- Resumen: La presente tesis tiene como objeto el estudio, en Madrid y su entorno, de los chapiteles empizarrados, desde su introducción en España por Felipe II, hasta su ocaso a partir de mediados del siglo XVIII. Para lo cual, se incide sobre sus dos facetas más trascendentales: su forma y sus armaduras de madera. Aspecto, este último, que vendría a complementar los estudios sobre la carpintería de armar tradicional española realizado por otros autores. La investigación realizada, teniendo en cuenta esta doble vertiente, aspira a demostrar hasta qué punto la introducción de este tipo de elemento arquitectónico tuvo influencia sobre la carpintería tradicional empleada en Castilla, y si la evolución formal del chapitel empizarrado desarrollado en el ámbito señalado fue por sendas propias y desvinculadas de su origen flamenco. ABSTRACT The aim of this thesis is the study of the slated roof spires, since its introduction in Spain by Felipe II, to its final decline from the mid-18th century, in Madrid and its surroundings. In order of that aim, it affects its two most significant aspects: its form and its timber trusses. This last aspect would complement other authors’ studies on spanish traditional carpentry assembling. The present research, taking into account this doublé aspect, tries to demonstrate the influence of this type of architectural element on the traditional carpentry in Castilla, and if the formal evolution of slated roof spires developed as it was said before was by their own and unrelated to any flemish origin.
