- Resumen: Medimos el territorio por su extensión, el valor de la vivienda por sus metros cuadrados, el destino vacacional por la distancia, la devastación del Amazonas por sus dimensiones cartesianas o la belleza arquitectónica en relación con la geometría: el espacio domina la producción edificatoria y regula la materialidad de nuestros hábitats, definiendo los modos de vida, dibujando las fronteras y reduciendo la cotidianidad a distancias, volúmenes y áreas. Mientras tanto, el parámetro tiempo, el que realmente controla nuestras vidas, se ve relegado a un segundo plano, sumiso y simplificado. Hasta hace pocos años, la variable temporal tenía un significado puramente maquínico, por su capacidad para medir el mundo en múltiplos de años o segundos; la idea evocada era la de un tiempo vacío, que existía sin pertenecer a nadie ni a nada, pero afectando a todas las áreas de la existencia humana. En particular, la ausencia de la temporalidad en la construcción de nuestro mundo desde la arquitectura y la ingeniería, ha provocado la congelación de los hábitats humanos, generando un gran conflicto en su incapacidad por acompasarse con el tiempo natural y adaptarse a las diversas y cambiantes circunstancias de sus habitantes: en la actualidad, todos y todas bailamos al ritmo del vehículo a motor, como lo hacían nuestros abuelos. El análisis de las nuevas relaciones espacio-temporales revelan el conflicto entre una ciudad creada espacialmente pero atravesada por las nuevas temporalidades tecnológicas que viajan instantáneamente por las nuevas autopistas de la información, enterrando el espacio cartesiano. Se conectan todos los eventos de los ciudadanos en el tiempo, independientemente de los espacios habitados, disolviendo las dualidades clásicas que han regido la producción de arquitectura: día-noche, dentro-fuera, privado-público, artificial-natural, físico-digital… La nueva temporalidad tecnológica no sólo demanda un nuevo entendimiento de los hábitats humanos, sino de éstos en relación al resto del Mundo. La superposición de las múltiples capas temporales, requieren nuevos modos complejos de pensar espacio-temporalmente la arquitectura para reconectarla con las necesidades de sus habitantes y crear nuevos entornos inclusivos, diversos y sostenibles al compás de nuestro Planeta. ----------ABSTRACT---------- We measure the territory by its extension, the value of homes by its square meters, the holiday destination by distance, the devastation of the Amazon by its Cartesian dimensions or architectural beauty in relation to its geometry: space dominates how we produce buildings and regulates the materiality of our habitats, defining how we live, drawing frontiers and reducing daily life to distances, volumes and areas. Meanwhile, the time parameter, the one that really controls our lives, is relegated to the background, submissive and simplified. Until a few years ago, the temporal variable had a purely machinic meaning for its ability to measure the world in multiples of years or seconds; the idea evoked was that of an empty time, which existed without belonging to anyone or anything, but affecting all areas of human existence. In particular, the absence of temporality in the construction of our world from the architecture and engineering point of view, has caused the freezing of human habitats, generating a great conflict in the inability to adjust to natural time or adapt to the diverse and changing circumstances of its inhabitants: today, we all dance to the rhythm of the motor vehicle, as our grandparents did. The analysis of the new space-time relations reveals the conflict between a city created spatially but crossed by the new technological temporalities that travel instantaneously through the new information highways, burying the Cartesian space. All the events of the citizens are connected in time, independently of the inhabited spaces, dissolving the classic dualities that have governed the production of architecture: day-night, inside-outside, private-public, artificial-natural, physical-digital ... The new technological temporality not only demands a new understanding of human habitats, but of them in relation to the rest of the World. The superposition of the multiple temporal layers, require new complex ways of thinking space and time in architecture to reconnect it with the needs of its inhabitants and create new inclusive, diverse and sustainable environments synchronized with the beat of our Planet.
